Skin Care: Get Rid of Stretch Marks

‘Tis the season of battling the intense heat by stripping down to the basics and being comfortable in your own skin. For some though, unsightly streaks of stretch marks on the abdomen or thighs are a big barrier to enjoying a good day in the sun!

Good thing, stretch marks aren’t something that a good skin care regimen couldn’t handle.

Skin Care: Get Rid of Stretch Marks

The Science behind Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, as most would know, are those off-color, visible lines on the skin. The usual locations are the abdomen, thighs, upper arms, buttocks and breasts.

Getting these lines after pregnancy is natural, but for younger women and men? The causes you’d want to check or look at are: stress, heredity factors, sudden weight loss or gain, and rapid growth. Hormones or any changes in your physical makeup stretch the connective tissue in the dermis layer of the skin. When these connective tissues are stretched rapidly and beyond flexibility, the collagen in your skin weakens and its normal production cycle is affected. The results are fine scars visible just under the epidermis of the top layer of the skin.

Although stretch marks are harmless, having them can make anyone feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. The nasty truth is that stretch marks can never be completely removed, but with good skin care and the right natural tools, you should be able to minimize the appearance of these unwanted lines.

Consider these skin care solutions:

Sugar + Lemon Juice Scrub

Exfoliation with sugar’s coarse texture can help get rid of dead skin and, in effect, make the appearance of your stretch marks less visible. The healing and toning properties of lemon juice should also help lighten these lines of scars.

  • In a small bowl, combine a tablespoon of sugar with a few drops of lemon juice.
  • Rub your homemade scrub unto the affected areas.
  • After a few minutes, rinse the mixture off with warm water.

A month after doing this skin care regimen once or twice a week, you should see that your stretch marks have lightened.

Egg Whites

Thanks to its sufficient amounts of amino acids and proteins, egg whites have healing properties that effectively and efficiently repair skin cells.

  • Extract egg whites from 2 eggs and whip in a bowl.
  • Either by using a brush or your fingers, apply on affected areas.
  • After 10 minutes or after it has dried, rinse the egg whites with warm water.

Follow this skin care technique daily for ideal results.

Olive Oil

Hydration is key to preventing any more stretch marks from appearing, and when it comes to hydration and cooling your skin, one of your best natural go-tos is a bottle of olive oil. Olive oil is packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants that are great for moisturizing skin and remedying a variety of skin problems.

After taking a shower, apply Moringa-O2 Herbal Moisturizing Lotion on the whole body, or the affected areas.
Make it a daily habit. You may also apply as needed.

Moringa-O2’s skin care system harvests the natural effects and benefits of moringa (malunggay), olive oil, and omega (from sunflower oil) to deeply nourish, moisturize, and protect your skin. It’s dermatologically-tested safe and effective. So no worries when using it on dear ones such as your kids!
