Hair Fall: Why It Happens and What You Can Do About It

  • Medical condition
    There are conditions, such as iron deficiency, that can make people feel weak, lethargic, and unable to focus. This condition, in which you lack in red blood cells, interferes with the ideal growth cycle of the hair.

    Another medical condition that can cause hair loss is Telogen Effluvium. Excessive hair fall happens after extreme stress caused by conditions such as pregnancy and drastic weight loss. This type of excessive hair fall may also result as a side effect of certain medications.

    If you don’t have any of these yet you still suffer from hair fall, it is highly possible that you have scalp problems. There are scalp conditions such as psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis that make it difficult for hair to grow and go through its natural cycle. Now the question is: what should you do?

Try incorporating foods such as milk and egg whites, and omega-3 fatty acids-rich types of fish like salmon and mackerel into your weekly diet.

    Apart from what you should eat, you also have to be aware of what you shouldn’t. Avoid sugary foods, since, among other harmful effects, sugar hinders protein absorption. It’s also best to avoid types of fish high in mercury like swordfish, marlin, and bigeye tuna.
